Rui Fu completed his PhD at University of California San Diego with mentorship from Dr Jens Lykke-Andersen, and received postdoctoral training at Boston Children’s Hospital and University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. His contributions to RNA biology include describing a novel translational repression cofactor complex recruited to mRNPs, and identifying the enzymatic trigger of rapid and widespread RNA decay during classical apoptosis. He has transitioned from benchwork to bioinformatic analyses of single cell RNA-seq and spatial transcriptomics. At the NYGC, Rui continues his work in interrogating single cell gene expression programs in development and disease contexts, and building bioinformatic tools and pipelines.
